Wannes Deneer & Aarich Jespers
Tuning People went looking for musicians in Antwerp who were willing to play a short piece for the camera. A video installation on 5 screens STADSKLANK shows a report of a journey through a city. The musicians enter into a conversation on five video screens.
STADSKLANK is an auditory blueprint of the city, a sample of what takes place musically in the inner spaces of the city. The composition of 24 minutes follows the changes in the atmosphere of the city in 24 hours.

Tuning People ging op zoek naar muzikanten in Antwerpen die bereid waren een kort stukje te spelen voor de camera. Een video-installatie op 5 schermen STADSKLANK toont een verslag van een reis door een stad. De muzikanten gaan een gesprek aan op vijf videoschermen.
STADSKLANK is een auditieve blauwdruk van de stad, een staalkaart van wat zich muzikaal plaatsvindt in de binnenruimtes van de stad. De compositie van 24 minuten volgt de veranderingen in de sfeer van de stad in 24 uur.

Wannes Deneer (1977) is a sound artist and scenographer.
He graduated in 2000 as an industrial designer. In 2005 he studied scenography, and co-founded the theatre collective Tuning People. His work is on the edge of theatre/ music/ visual arts/ sound art. He tries to materialize or visualize sound and works with collected/ found objects. The simultaneous use of new and old techniques, supported by objects that he finds around him characterizes his work. His work is presented as installation or as stageperformance.
Between 2005 and 2021 he has created set- and sounddesigns for Tuning People, de Filmfabriek, fABULEUS, Hetpaleis and many others. Between 2009 and 2012 he worked on a research project with d e t h e a t e r m a k e r. In 2017 and 2018 he was a resident at KAAP. In 2020 and 2021 he did, as a part of Tuning Peoples research objective, a series of collaborative researches.
Aarich Jespers (1972) is a musician and visual artist
He studied interior design and at the same time music at Jazz Studio in Antwerp. Finally, he went to KASK in Ghent to specialize in 3D and multimedia. During his studies at the Jazz studio, Jespers played drums with A beatband, the later Zita Swoon group, of Stef Kamil Carlens. They played one of their first gigs in 1990 at 'Coconuts' in Antwerp, under the name 'Kamil and the beatband'. As a musician, Jespers played with The Deer Children, the backing band of Nive Nielsen, Rudy Trouvé, Kiss my Jazz, Tom Pintens, Emiliana Torrini and Tine Reymer.
In 2013, Jespers founded The Colorist Orchestra together with Kobe Proesmans. This collective invites pop musicians to rework their repertoire, using self-built instruments. They have already worked with Sumie Nagano, Cibelle, Lisa Hannigan, Howe Gelb, Emiliana Torrini and Gabriel Rios.
In 2011, Jespers, together with Dolores Bouckaert and Hans Bryssinck, created The Kindness of Geometry, a theater performance, for which Jespers also designed the scenography. He also makes various music installations and in the theater he played with Muziektheater Transparant, STAN or Bronks. As a visual artist, Aarich took part in exhibitions or performances at the Flemish Culture House, de Brakke Grond, STUK, deSingel and Hetpaleis. He also designed video installations for Dries Van Noten and Zita Swoon Group.
